Street art Oberkampf
The Oberkampf wall and its murals that change every month.
The story of the place
Since 1864 the street has borne the name of Christophe-Philippe Oberkampf, the manufacturer behind the toile de Jouy. At number 107, on the corner of rue Saint-Maur, a former advertising billboard changed purpose: the association Le M.U.R. — Modulable, Urbain, Réactif — founded in 2003, has been running open-air exhibitions there since 2007. Seventeen works follow one another each year: every three weeks an artist paints over the previous one. Nothing here is made to last.
