Le mur des Je t'aime
"I love you" in 250 languages, in Square Jehan-Rictus.
The story of the place
It began as a collection. In the 1990s Frédéric Baron asked his brother, then his neighbours and passers-by, to write “I love you” in their own language; he gathered hundreds of them, languages and dialects alike. With the calligrapher Claire Kito and the mural artist Daniel Boulogne, he set 311 of them, in 250 languages, onto 612 enamelled lava tiles, installed in 2000 in the square Jehan-Rictus. A wall usually divides; this one declares.
