The story of the place

In 1865 the developer Moïse Polydore Millaud laid out this street, lined with small houses of at most two storeys, on the model of the nineteenth-century workers' rows. It was first called avenue Millaud; in 1897 it was renamed after the lawyer and politician Adolphe Crémieux (1796-1880). At number 8, a plaque still marks the level reached by the flood of 1910. Pedestrianised in 1993, it owes its pastel facades to the residents themselves. It is still a residential street, and neighbours ask visitors to keep it discreet.
